4for the flat footed!!Nov 14, 2010
By Javy
as a heavy guy who is flat footed to the point that my footprint doesn't look human, i definately recommend these shoes. being in iraq as a soldier requires tough and sturdy running shoes. breaking them in i'd definately recommend, as the first run was hell for my feet in them. after about a week and maybe 12 miles on them i felt great wearing them. they are relatively flexible for the amount of the support they provide as well. these are my second pair of asics motion stability running shoes. the first pair left blisters where my arches should be. be prepared for that if its your first pair. your feet will get used to the shoes in about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks.

also for the price, these shoes are worth it. don't go cheap on running shoes. especially if you need good support for them. the wrong shoes can hurt your ankles, knees, back, neck in a sort of chain reaction if you aren't wearing the right shoes.

3Great cushioning for flat-footed runners.Dec 01, 2010
By Stephan
I previously owned the Foundation 8 which was a very comfortable shoe that I use just for walking around. I also own two pairs of the Asic Evolution 5's that I specifically use for jogging and running. The cushioning on both of my Evolutions have worn out so I decided to purchase the new Foundation 9 to replace my older Evolutions as a jogging/running shoe...

I find that the Foundations, both the 8 and 9 feel like they have more overall cushion around the foot, however it does feel a bit heavy. I am a severe overpronator and these shoes perform just as well as the more expensive Evolution 5. They feel slightly stiffer compared to the Evolution 5 but this may change after it properly breaks in I've only put in about 12 miles in them). So far I am satisfied with these shoes which I use for running and if they continue to hold up, I may have found a cheaper replacement for the more expensive and great Asic Evolution 5.

Update (10/4/11): I completed a half-marathon in these shoes and experienced blisters and pain from mile 8 and on. I did not experience any pain whatsoever with the Evolutions in my previous half-marathon. I previously used the Foundations for short, 3-mile runs and decided to use then on my last half-marathon which was a big mistake. Nonetheless, I prefer the Asics Evolution of long distances over the foundations.

5the best running shoes I have ever hadJul 06, 2010
By Andrew Sutedjo "an avid reader. a films lover. a console gamer. a lover. a fighter"
I have flat feet and after did some research, I found out that the best type of running shoes for me is motion control one. Asics has been getting a lot of positive reviews, specially their gel foundation line. I am an active person and do a running everyday, therefore I need a durable shoes that can also preserve my posture and legs. I bought and tried gel foundation 9 and couldn't be more satisfied with it.

The support really helped me. I felt the difference when running and it felt like I did it more correctly this time. It just felt right wearing this shoes when working out. The ventilation of the shoes work really well too, therefore your feet would always have air circulation, which is a very good thing.

3This overpronator prefers the GEL-Evolution seriesMay 01, 2011

I decided to give this shoe a try in the interest of saving some money over ASICS' higher priced GEL-Evolution series. The company groups both styles within their "Maximum Support" category, but offers the GEL-Foundation for about $30 less.

I really wanted to like this as much (if not more) than the higher priced GEL-Evolution, which is what I normally wear. However, I found the support just wasn't as good, even when paired with Superfeet GREEN orthotic inserts.

I'm still not sure what the extra $30 pays for in the GEL-Evolution, but for whatever reason it works much better for me -- I am a serious overpronator. Still, the GEL-Foundation might be a good (and more affordable) choice for those with moderate overpronation.

4Good shoe for the priceJun 30, 2011
By Troy Gerzine "coach"
I already have the ASICS Gel foundation TN8A4(2E), but they are more than a year old, and I heard that you should get new shoes every 6 months, so I figured these were just a newer model, and I haven't been disappointed. They are every bit as good as the older model. They feel great when I go out walking with the dog, and she needs to go out every day. Great shoe for the price.
