Get what you pay forDec 27, 2009
By J. Shelton The shoes were a good price, look nice, have a good fit, and are very comfortable for someone who has had severe foot surgery. However, in less than a month of everyday wear to work, the soles started coming off. My husband is on his feet 8 hours a day working retail and is not using these for strenuous activity or exercise. I'm not sure if we got a bad batch but it was very disappointing.
Sizes run smallDec 26, 2009
By Bonk Seems like a good solid shoe. I bought them a couple weeks before going on a cruise. Ran in them a few times and they felt a little tight, but OK. On the cruise I ran a few times on a treadmill and they felt fine. However, on a shore excursion, I hiked up and down a mountain about five hours and my feet ached almost every step. I think the shoes were broken in fine, but the 1/2 size too small made a huge difference when hiking up & down a steep slope. I would recommend getting 1/2 size higher than you normally wear. I have worn a size 11 for over 20 years, but would have bought a size 11 1/2 if I had known better.

Not the greatestApr 22, 2010
By Bryce N. Lytle I tried the shoe on in-store and it seemed ok. After 8 months of good running the inside heel of the shoe is peeling back and the plastic support is bent and rubbing against my heel. Not good. You can find better shoes for the same price.

Comfortable and durableDec 11, 2009
By Running The Avia 5506 is very comfortable and lightweight; however I would not buy this again. It is more comfortable and weighs lighter than my Reebok but not as comfortable as Asics and Sauconys. For the price it is definitely a bargain, but I would not recommend serious runners the 5506 simply because your feet are delicate and should be taken care of with maximum comfort. Running puts stress and pressure on the knee as well as the feet so you would want the best support. I tell all my friends to visit their local running shoe store (or at least a sport store) and try out various different pairs of shoes. Once you find one that you like, visit online and compare the prices there. The Avia 5506 is not recommended for runners with flat feet either. A good pair of running shoes is definitely worth the investment so shop around.
