Gregg's Danner Shoe ReviewAug 23, 2009
By Gregg W. Whitmer I'm hesitant to order shoes or boots online because of the critical factor of getting the right size. I ordered a half size larger as suggested and they fit just fine. They required very little break in. They aren't too heavy or bulky. I wore them recently all day long while fishing on a small boat and they were very comfortable. The inside of the boots in the ankle area left brown stains on my white socks which don't wash out easily so be aware of that.

Very Good BootNov 09, 2010
By Caseyc4 I bought these boots right before a hunting trip. I didn't really have any time for break-in, wore them on the plane and then started walking up and down hills. 4 - 8 miles a day in steep, rocky terain pushing through sage brush and heavy timber. Crossing creeks and side-hilling for hours through sunny dry conditions, rain and snow for 10 days. The boots were excellent. Kept my feet dry and comfortable in all conditions. The shank and the ankle support are very stiff and thats a good thing when you're side-hilling a 60 degree + slope of sage brush and loose gravel. The only problem I had was about 3 days in they started wearing a spot on the top of my arches. The arch on the insole is a little too sharp for me. I put a band-aid on it and was fine the rest of the trip. Good thing is the insoles come out and I can replace them with one that fits my foot better. If I was buying boots for light day hiking on trails I'd probably buy something a little softer but for back country all terrain hiking this is an excellent boot.
Danner mens 453 GTX Boots Tested in tasmaniaApr 09, 2012
By Tezza I recently completed the 70kms Overland Track in Tasmania, Australia. The Track commences at Cradle Mountain and we took 6 days to complete. My Danner 453 GTX Outdoor boots were excellent. Through mud, slush, over tree roots, shale stone, boulder stone and through water they didnt let me down. They gave me the support needed, the Goretex liner kept my feet dry and they were comfortable. They were heavier than my mate's hiking boots but that didnt worry me. During the walk my knees caused me some issues and the boots provided much needed support etc. Taking into account I was also carrying an 18kgs pack I was very happy with the boots. Prior to the walk I gave them a couple of sprays with the Ecco brand spray for Goretex and that also worked a treat. If you are thinking about a good well made hiking boot i would recommend the Danner's. The Overland Track in Tasmania can provide some interesting extremes of weather and you need good gear.

Just horrible!Nov 01, 2010
By David Peach These are not the Danner boots that I know and love. My dad has been buying these for a long time now, mostly because of the wonderful quality and the fact they WERE made in the USA. I also still have an old pair that I got back in high school that are just now wearing out (over 6 years of hard use)
I think you might still be able to find a pair made in the USA, but none of these are! I tried these on at a local outdoor store and they are horrible. The fabric is very cheep and flimsy feeling (that's made in China for you). The hooks and eyelets for the shoe laces are made out of PLASTIC! Really Danner? These are a sorry excuse for boots in general, and especially for Danner. Look elsewhere people!
