5The Best Boots that money can buy...!Jan 09, 2007
By Nick the Knife "NDS"
I use rubber boots every week of the year in both my garden at home and our summer/winter cabin in the mountains. I purchased a pair of the LaCrosse to use in each location. Whether it is for general gardening, digging, heavy hauling work or even tree cutting and chainsaw work I have found these boots to be the best I have owned in 20 years. The steel-toe cap gives me the peace of mind for any of the varied jobs I undertake and the terrific tread and in-sole plus cushioned inner sole makes for a splendid boot, comfortable, sturdy, sleek and perfectly contoured. Worth it's weight in gold I would say.

5Beautiful bootsSep 08, 2011

Run true to size.

Comfortable.

Wish list:

1. Assist straps on boot top.

2. Maybe a calf strap (I assume calf straps help keep out debris, but not sure what the down side is?).

Glad I bought them.

5Well made, very comfortableJul 08, 2011

I ordered a pair of these boots for my husband. Good quality, not too heavy considering they are knee high with a steel toe.

My husband's shoe size is 8 1/2 so the size 9 is a bit of a loose fit but still quite comfortable if he wears thick socks. Plenty of uncle room, too.

A great buy.

UPDATE (7/28/11):

These boots are so well made and comfortable that I wound up ordering a pair for myself, which arrived yesterday.

I wanted to order this boot in women's size but they aren't available, not even on the LaCrosse website (btw, there the price for this particular boot is twenty dollars more than Amazon's!) so I ordered a smaller men's size, which fits a tad loose but very comfy, nevertheless.

Yesterday I did a lot of gardening and yard maintenance all afternoon in 87 degree weather yet my feet did not bother me at all. When I finally took the boots off, my socks felt dry and that never happened in hot weather with the rubber Wellies I used to wear.

Again, we couldn't be happier with these boots. Been recommending them to friends and family.

5Awesome utilitarian bootsApr 14, 2010

I bought these for yard work and chain sawing. So far they are perfect for both. Our yard is wet and we have a lot of poison ivy. The boots allow me to go anywhere and not worry about either obstacle. The fact that they a slip-on makes them very convenient going in and out of the house. I have only had them about a month but the rubber seems tough and the steel toe provides some protection while brush cutting and chain sawing. They fit well and I can even where them without socks when it is more convenient. I haven't noticed any bad smells yet!

I ordered these boots for different works on the garden: clear the vegetation with thread and blade, gardening and also to do some construction works with reinforced concrete. They arrived today and all I can say is that I'm very surprised because they are as sturdy as supple. The entire foot area is really strong, even the instep, that has some kind of strong rubber bones that make it really tough. With them on, I feel my feet as if they were in a safe steel cage, but one that is incredibly comfy and lightweight if we consider the materials used to make the boots. Previously, I used a pair of mid-calf PVC safety boots also with steel toe and midsole; LaCrosse ones are higher, bigger, sturdier but feel like a feather in comparison!
The boot shaft arrives just below the knee, but you can flex the legs, crouch down and kneel without ANY sign of discomfort. I think it's impressive, given the thickness of the rubber in this area. Oh, and yes, you can tug any kind of pants in them: the shafts are wide for people with regular calfs; could accomodate bigger calfs too.
Further on, the lining is textile but very dense and stretchy (I would say "neoprene-like"). It makes easy to put the feet in and to remove the boots, even barefoot. It has no heel rubber aids to remove the boots by stepping on them, but it doesn't need them anyway. The only possible drawback I can find to it is that my heels slip slightly up&down when walking on them, but after some hours of use I find it makes walking really more comfortable. No real slipping problems.
Finally, I use size EUR 42 in normal shoes (I have somewhat wider feet). I ordered size US 8M (as of EUR 41.5 in the boots stickers). Fitting is perfect, couldn't be better.

All in all, I think these boots are really worth the money. And if we add that I received them in 3 working days to Spain (yes, three)... They only thing I cannot talk about is on their longevity, but I hope to enjoy them many years to come. The looks and feelings are that they will last many hours of work. Will write back if they don't!
