Exactly as expectedJan 01, 2011
By Authur Burns I received them on Thursday and took them snipe hunting (yes it's an actually bird) in the Florida swamp/muck/marsh on Friday. Water up to shin deep and stayed dry all day. (they are waterproof) Never met anyone who was bitten by a snake while wearing snake boots but these certainly made me feel safer throughout the day and I'd certainly rather take my chances in these than my old boots. I wore them from 5:30 to 3pm with no break in period at all, and have no blisters, chaffing or sore spots at all to report. I currently have a sprained ankle which made putting the left boot on extremely painful this morning, but the ankle support of the boots throughout the day made it easy to almost entirely forget about the sprain and keep my eyes out for snakes and snipe. I have heard that the Danner boots are extraordinarily comfortable almost immediately and I think these could have added a little more padding or whatever it is they add to make boots very comfortable, but again, if I wore them for 8-9 hours through mud, shin deep water, sand and rocks and have no pain at all to report, I think the LaCrosse Snake Boots with side zipper did a great job so far.
OUTSTANDING !!! For Wide WidthAug 06, 2011
By S. R. Squyres Snake boots only seem to be made in medium and wide width (2E) and I need XW. I happen to try on a couple of pair at academy (different brand) and discovered that the wide sizes in some of these types of hunting boots seem to be a really wide fit. I gave these a try because of this brands reputation. The first pair at 10 1/2 were to narrow across the ball of my foot. Since I've been trying to find a pair for years I took another shot at size 11. Bingo!! The boots were exactly the same size as the 10 1/2 but the width was noticably wider. Whether it was a goof or intentional, they made me an almost perfect pair pair of boots.
cons: 1)One tall size, tallest on the market. 2)Shaft really has to be loosened up and given time to stretch for a full zip. 3)Hard snake gaurd rubs around the ankles. I've had to bend the shaft forward to try and flex the hard material.

By Brentenstein You definitely can't twist an ankle when they're new.As with most snake boots they're only 16" of snake protection and hopefully water proofing(haven't submerged them yet) so it seems to be a rule of thumb to subtract 2" off any snake boot but I'm pleased with the quality none the less.I've worn LaCrosse for hunting and scouting purposes for years and when I saw they were giving snake boots a whirl I had to at least try them.

By Dave Kossman Boots fit true to size, order the same size as your shoe size. Still getting boots broken it, but they are pretty comfortable. I tested them out in a foot of water and no leaks. The zippered side really helps with taking them on and off.
