I bought the first version of these boots in regular old Alpha green and regular zig-zag flat traction bottom several years back. Wore them usually out on the boat, yard/garden work or for taking the nieces and nephews "Geo-cashing" (or as they call it - Treasure Hunting). They lasted a year before the steel shank in the soul started squeaking every step like I was stepping on a mouse. Butt I did put them through their paces. Little expensive to have a squeak all the sudden within that first year - the boot was in great shape and should have gotten another year or two out of them - but that annoying squeak you couldn't stand wearing them. Dad's identical pair did the same. Just the first design flaws for the ankle-high version I guess. I Love LaCrosse boots in about all versions and they are my hunting boots. The knee high version of the Alpha Burly have been my hunting boots for better than twenty years and my fathers boots well before "insulation". The newer neoprene lined boots are the peek of the line and worth every penny. Bought two sets of these ankle-high boots and have been wearing the first pair for about three months. Good traction on the sailboat, fishing boat, and even nasty snotty slimy clay mud hills on hikes or out camping. They are neoprene lined/molded as one piece with the rubber and have never had them separate or tear or anything and keep your feet warm and dry even on cold wet days. Don't be afraid to get that half sized bigger than you wear for those of you who get cold feet easily - just wear a pair of woolies and you are good to go. The neoprene and soft rubber make them mold to your feet like another pair of skin. Bought these on sale and gonna beat the snot out of them - I know they can handle it.
