Excellent comfortable boots!!!Mar 09, 2011

Typical Danner quality, you can see, feel and smell it when you take the boots out of the box. I was issued these boots for deployment to Afghanistan. One of the first times that I wore them was on a road march during our pre-mobilization train-up. Without breaking them in, I experienced NO foot problems. I have over nineteen years of military experience, including light infantry, ranger and airborne and I have never had a pair of boots that I could pull out of the box and walk in without getting blisters or hot spots. As you may know, Afghanistan is VERY rocky, and these boots are perfect for it. I also have a pair of the issue hot weather boot here (made by Wellco), but I never wear them off of the FOB as they do not remotely give me the same level of support or comfort. My Danners have faded to a light brown color from the dust and rocks, but absolutely no problems with quality. Not everyone here likes them, so it could be a personal thing, but I love these boots! I got mine for free, but in my opinion, they are worth the money.
Classic hiking bootsFeb 27, 2012
By cabinetfixtures I'll admit I bought these danner combat hikers at flea marker but I wanted to buy them for quite a while. The $400 dollar price tag is too much for me to pay for boots. But that aside these are the great hiking boots. The sole is hard and you don't feel the ground, plus I feel sure of my step on slippery areas. How well the sole stays to the upper, I see it is glued and not stitched. I never had a boot yet where the sole splits off so I'll assume that won't be a problem. As for the boot upper I like the kick guard going all around the boot. That to me is good protection for my feet all round not just toes. The leather part is tough just one piece. The lace design is perfect for a easy off, but you do have to take time to lace these tight good for me the civilian but the military would probably prefer the speed lace new edition danner has out for sale now. I really liked this design and as for the fit I would say at least consider feet width these boots feel narrow to me I was only lucky to find my size and they feel tight width wise. Bottom line great boots probably one of the best on market
